The only guide you need before going for a storage container hire service

If you’ve ever been near a factory or at the docks, you’d have noticed these

If you’ve ever been near a factory or at the docks, you’d have noticed these large containers in different colors being moved around by cranes. Normally such containers are used to transport very heavy goods either by a truck or a ship. If you need the services of such a container you can either go for a storage container hire service or a rental service, depending on your objectives and requirements. Let’s take a look at some of the preparatory measures you need to take:

Gaining a permit:

You can’t just go buy a container of the market and place it wherever you want. In most cases, you are going to need a permit or at the very least a temporary permit. In some cases, however, you won’t require a permit. It depends mainly upon the city or state that you live in. The difficulty of getting a permit also depends upon various factors. If you looking to get it in the vicinity of a residential area, then you need to be prepared to face disappointment as the rules are pretty strict. Rural areas, on the other hand, are a piece of cake.

Sort out the delivery fee:

One area that can cost you quite a bit without your knowledge is the delivery fee. The delivery fee is charged based on the mileage between the supplier and the destination. The fee is usually fixed for 60 miles for most agencies but anything above that and you’ll have to be spending extra money. These fees can be somewhat hidden so you better thoroughly check the terms with your supplier before striking a deal.

Duration:

Storage container hire is normally a contractually based obligation. The contract can either be a short term contract or a long term contract. Most suppliers also offer a month to month contract which will come in handy if you don’t know how long the container is going to stay with you. In some cases, you’ll need to pay an advance amount or advance notice to terminate the contract.

The size:

Size matters a lot when it comes to any storage device and containers are no exception. Normally suppliers will offer you storage containers in two standard sizes, 20 meters, and 40 meters. You can also request for custom size storage containers which are obtained by either cutting or welding but the cost for such containers is a lot more. Some suppliers may even offer the option to make the container extra wide. The size of the container only depends upon your business requirements. If you’re not sure of what size to choose, you can always talk to the supplier and figure out what you need.

The suppliers available depends upon the area you live in but with just a little bit of googling or poking around, you’ll find yourself signing a contract in no time!
