The government has been adopting several measures to ensure a streamlined travel experience for the citizens of the country. Earlier, the challan rates were revised by the Government so that people take the traffic rules violations seriously. You can go through complete details about the challan fines online as they vary from one state to another. For example, if you are from Andhra Pradesh, you can check Andhra Pradesh traffic challan online to know more about the traffic fines and other penalties in the state. Another great initiative taken by the Government is the introduction of FASTags.
A FASTag is a reloadable tag that makes use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for automatic deduction of toll charges at the toll plazas. FASTags have been mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for all vehicles. Hence, both private and commercial vehicles passing through the toll plazas in the country should have a FASTag affixed to them. FASTags have been introduced to make everything more aligned at the toll plazas and for better road management.
In case you have not yet purchased a FASTag for your vehicle, you can opt for HDFC FASTag for making way for a simpler, cashless and a time-saving process. To apply for HDFC FASTag online, you need to open the official website. Next, you have to choose whether you have an existing account with HDFC Bank or not. In case you have it, enter the Customer ID after which you will get a verification code on your registered mobile number. Proceed further and select whether you want to buy a FASTag for a commercial vehicle or a private vehicle. For a commercial vehicle, you have to enter details such as your corporate name, contact details, email ID, Address, State, City, etc. For private vehicles, you need to submit details including name, mobile number, email address, DOB, city, Pincode, gender, etc.
After submitting the above details, enter your vehicle registration number and the vehicle type. There is also an option to enter multiple vehicles at this step. You have to upload a copy of RC before submitting the application form. Lastly, you need to submit the appropriate payment via the online payment gateway. While applying for a FASTag, you have to also submit the KYC documents.
Besides applying online, you can also submit the application to get a FASTag offline. You can get the application form by a bank representative or from the POS located at the toll plazas. The documentation process remains the same irrespective of the application mode, hence you must carry all the necessary documents along with you. It is worthy to note that all the documents must be in the name of the vehicle owner. However, in the rare scenario, if a vehicle owner is not present at the time of purchase of FASTag, then the other person submitting the application has to show his/her photo ID proof too. A one-time fee of Rs 200 is valid on all the types of vehicles to get an HDFC FASTag.
