We are being asked by many of our Rabbis who the RCE is, and they have been receiving communication and telephone calls and are confused. The Conference of European Rabbis wishes to make it clear that the RCE is a Chabad/Lubavitch organisation which is run by a group of young shluchim of Chabad out of Brussels. They have adopted a similar name to the CER, and this is causing some confusion. We have asked them to change their name with no success. Furthermore, this newly found organisation, which originally openly declared that it was Chabad/Lubavitch, has now removed these words from their letterhead and publications. They are also becoming involved with every single activity that is being undertaken by the CER. This duplication of activity is of course causing further confusion.

The CER continues to be the prime representative of European Jewish communities vis-a-vis governments, the European Commission and the European Parliament, and it continues to serve as a prime umbrella organisation of Chief Rabbis and congregational Rabbis throughout Europe, to whom the CER offers its on-going services and support.
